With the return of the spring sun, a new crop of farmers markets is about to emerge from the cold, hard earth, ready to nourish our bodies with long-awaited fresh foods, and nourish our souls with the care and knowledge of a farmer’s calloused hands, a calf’s first wobbly steps, a faint green hue overtaking a brown field, and the passing down of valuable food wisdom from grower to enthusiastic eater.

Though eagerly anticipated, farmers market schedules were not available as of our publication date. Most markets will open in mid- May, so watch your local market’s website for updates and pick up the summer Edible Madison for a full listing including dates, times and locations.
