Favorite Pizza Dough
Use this simple, trusty dough recipe to act as a base for all of your pizza adventures.
Ingredients
1 cup warm water
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
¼ teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon olive oil
2¼ cups bread flour
1 teaspoon kosher salt
Directions
Combine the water, yeast and sugar in a measuring cup, stir to combine, and allow to rest for 5 minutes so the yeast can activate. Add olive oil.
In the bowl of a large stand mixer, combine flour and salt. With the mixer running, add the yeast mixture. You can also use a large bowl and spoon to combine by hand.
Knead the dough for 3 minutes by hand or with a dough hook attachment and mixer. Let the dough rest for 15 minutes, then knead for 3 more minutes.
Turn the dough onto a heavily floured counter and divide in half. Shape into two balls and place it back on a floured counter. Cover it with a damp towel and allow it to rise for 3-4 hours.
Suggestions
After it's done rising, gently stretch the dough ball into a pizza crust shape, to your desired thickness, and top with whatever your heart desires!
