Turmeric Tonic

This herbal tea blend uses turmeric, ginger and peppercorns and brews into a light, restorative tea.

Ingredients

5 oz. turmeric root

1 ½ oz. ginger root

1 oz. black peppercorns

1 oz. cinnamon chips (cassia)

3 oz. dandelion root (unroasted)

3 oz. burdock root (unroasted)

½ oz. galangal root

Directions

1

Mix all ingredients thoroughly and store in an airtight glass container. Keep out of the sunlight and away from heat. Use within 3 to 4 months for best taste. See steeping methods below. You can resteep teas and herbal blends three to four times (results will vary depending on steeping time and amount of tea used). Discard or compost teas and herbal blends that are more than 8 to 12 months old.*

2

To steep in a pot: For a 16 ounce pot, measure 1 level tablespoon into a tea bag or reusable filter (adjust accordingly for different size pots). Add boiling water—spring water or filtered for best results. Steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove tea bag or filter and enjoy.

3

To steep in a mug: Measure 1 to 2 teaspoons into a tea bag or reusable filter (Macha recommends Finum) and steep with boiling water for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove tea bag and enjoy.

* Exception: Some teas are worth aging. Ask your local tea retailer to find out which teas age well and how to store properly for long-term aging.
