Folk remedies have involved elderberries for centuries in North America , where herbalists have prescribed it to help with breaking fevers, headaches, colds and flu, indigestion, rheumatism and other kinds of inflammation.
The leaves, stems, branches, seeds and roots of the elderberry plant are toxic. Before using the berries, be sure to carefully inspect the batch. The flowers are also edible and are most commonly prepared as a tea.
Nutrition: Elderberries are high in vitamin C and antioxidants.
