Hot Buttered Cider

Serves: 4

This is a sweet, non-alcoholic riff on hot buttered rum. Using local cider and a rich, salted butter makes it all the more delicious. (And no one’s telling if you add some rum.)

Ingredients

4 cups apple or pear cider
2 cinnamon sticks
1 tsp. whole cloves
6 cardamom pods
1 tsp. whole peppercorns
1 tbsp. brown sugar
4 tsp. salted butter

Directions

Pour cider into medium pot. Add cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom, peppercorns and brown sugar.

Warm gently over low heat until hot. Pour through a strainer into four mugs.

Serve with a generous teaspoon of salted butter on top.
