Publisher’s Letter: Fall 2017

Publisher's Letter

When we launched Edible Madison, we decided to include a column that would give our readers a peek into some of the kitchens leading the local food movement—a perspective they couldn’t otherwise get. We kicked off the photo essay column in our very first issue, with Tami Lax and her crew at Harvest Restaurant. Our creative director, Jim Klousia, had worked in kitchens, but not me.That first photo shoot in the kitchen at Harvest, practically elbow-to-elbow with the crew, opened my eyes to how truly inspiring, hard-working, real and fun the place called the “back of the house” can be.

The Back of the House column has continued to be one of my favorites. Mainly because it always makes me feel the fresh excitement of exploring the world of food. A world that never ceases to amaze me and fuels my passion to open the door for others to explore it, too, through storytelling.

So with this 30th issue of Edible Madison, we explore. And implore you to do so as well. Hit the wine trail. Try a new restaurant. Gather friends over some harvest-inspired cocktail recipes. Eat kale. Learn some dairy history. And last but not least, get your game on in true Wisconsin style.

Happy exploring,

Jamie Lamonde
Publisher and Editor-in-Chief
