Details
Deer hunting in Wisconsin is practically a religion, widowing thousands of spouses for three months of the year. Hunting is important to controlling the deer population since most natural deer predators are no longer common to the area, if around at all. The season runs from September through January for bow hunting, and November to early December for gun hunting. Visit the Wisconsin DNR’s deer hunting site for detailed information.
Venison is unable to be certified organic since the deer are able to roam wherever they like. It’s been said that the flavor of most venison has changed in the last 20 to 30 years due to deer consuming more grain in farmers fields rather than their usual diet of forage in grassy areas and woodlands.
